Just an F.Y.I............S.W.B.A. has a "spots for tots" tournament/toy drive on the 11th in Newport, in case no one knew this. Other than that, I'd also like to get this season in the books and will fish what ever date you all decide upon.

11th--got the all important weigh boat, and not too close to Xmas for those with fixed Holiday plans. Otherwise January.

Been there and done that http://www.thedachshundnetwork.com/v...ies/badger.gif. The smell takes forever to go away. Looks like I can`t change my flight on the 11th so if tournament goes on, please roll over entry for next year. If on the 18th, I`ll leave my little black & white friend at home.

not that my vote counts but one more vote for the 18th here

Re: SD Bay Postponement date

Although the 18th seems to be a little more popular for various reasons, we are proceeding with the December 11th date. Logistically it works and the 18th does not. Hope we don't get any more weather interruptions or Brian will end up winning by default!

I am looking forward to fishing on Dec. 11th. I know at this late date it is hard to please everyone and make all the logistics of having a tournament and having weighboats all work. Remember this is supposed to be FUN! Thanks Andy for all your hard work!

Mike, find the weigh boats, gather up some raffle prizes, make a guesstamate on how much food to bring, cover MY work schedule and we will be all set for the 18th...............just showing you another perspective. :sifone:

I am sorry that you can't fish on the 11th. I would like everyone to be able to fish this last one of the year.

Re: SD Bay Postponement date

O.K. so I'm not a total dork on the day of the event. After the final weigh in do we go back to the OEX Mission Bay store for the awards and food? Also, I have a Cobra radio that is not VHF, will that work to contact the weigh boats?

Lit-up1 12-01-2010 10:21 AM

Re: SD Bay Postponement date

Jimmy,

No the event will take place just East of the boat launch on the grassy area-
I don't know about your radio-does it get various channels up to 71-you can check it that morning with others who have a radio-
you can fish around someone who has a radio and for the last hour (about) the weigh boats will be near the launch-
good luck

zinkysd 12-01-2010 10:50 AM

Re: SD Bay Postponement date

Jimmy,
Just have your bait tank battery fully charged, keep your fish tanked up until you see the weigh boat, then hold your paddle up in the air and the weigh boat will come to you. Like Dave said the BQ is just to the left of the launch next to the sculpture on the grass.
Also if you want to take a look at the competition before the tournament, a bunch of guys are fishing Sat. toys of tots tournament 6-12 at Mission Bay.

If your talking about a Cobra radio like the truckers use no it won't work it's on a different band than the VHF radios. Bring your cell phone they will give the cell number of the weigh boat also.

I saw a radio at Wal-mart for $40 that will server my needs, I may end up getting a better one for Christmas, but I do want one and so I'll probably go pick that up.

Check out West Marine for a few dollars more you can get a good radio

I actually remembered that I have a VHF radio from the boat that I use to own. The radio is small and I have power for it, and all I need is an antena. I can make this thing work. I'm set.

My radio won't work so I'll have to use the other ways mentioned.
