Surf Fishing 05/12/06
Because of the recent red tide here in SoCal areas, we decided to head up into Malibu for our first stop to test the action. We made a stop at Broads Beach amongst the surf dwellers. It was still pretty overcast when we finally made our way there....Here's Alex using his surf rig with a kroc and some plastics:

There was about 10 of us surf fishing, and it was a slow day for the bunch of us. We saw 1 skate taken off the shore, but the tubers who were working the trolling lanes we doing pretty good and had some legal hali's to show for it. An unidentified tuber hanging another legal halibut: http://www.allkayakfishing.com/photo...ium/cherry.jpg We headed down to 72nd st jetty to see what was up there. The best part of venturing back into LB is the red tide is gone, and the surf looks back to normal. After awhile we had to say good-bye and pack it up for next time. Next time, we'll bring the anchovies and blood worms :D Perry |

Thanks for the report. Sounds like the fishing was a little tough. I know you guys gave 'em hell though. Glad to hear that crappy red tide has cleared.

Hi Perry,
The surf is looking up! The last couple of times I fished the surf, it's been "el skunko" here in So. County, but I went out this morning and picked up 4 perch in about an hour. The water feels warmer and that may have something to do with it! The next time you fish the surf in So. County give me a ring, I would love to come along:) |
