I also have a float tube and still use it when I can find the time. Kayaks give you alot more mobility and distance than a float tube which I sure you will see. Being located in Germany, what brands do you have there? I'm sorta curious who's brands are there.
A few years back I was in Europe for a few months and went to West Germany and had a great time. It is a beautiful country and I am very glad I was able to travel and see it in person. There is so much to see you'll never get a real idea from books or even the TV without seeing it in person.
