You pretty much have installing hatches down
Use a saber saw or dremel or ?? to make a nice hole, deburr it a bit then use the gasket that it came with or marine Goop for a nice seal. I've used rivets at Malibu to install them, but then you need to make sure they expand all the way and are tight.
