Hit up Irvine Lake today for just a few dinks on the fly. The water level is way down and is the lowest I have ever seen. The launch ramp is on the corner of Trout Island, and Santiago Flats has alot of soil showing. The road on the West Shore has been graded, and most of the shore anglers are fishing from there.
There was just a few of us float tubers out today and the other guys were dropshotting worms for a few trout here and there. It seemed the bite was closer to shore, and with all the shore anglers in a long line you couldn't get a tube in close enough to get in on the fish. Us tubers stayed out by the buoy line and hopefully out of casting distance, but were a little deeper than what we wanted. The guys with boats who were trolling were doing pretty good, and there was alot of boaters down by the dam and trolling the middle of the lake. A kayak setup for trolling would have been the ticket ![]() PerryC ![]()

Perry ,were you using sinking line ? Even a section of leadcore between line and leadrer helps. It doubles to troll with as well. Scott Shaw

Scott,
I was using a type lll full sinking line. I needed to get is closer to shore, but there was just too many anglers to do so, I miss the Sierras ![]() Perry
