Good choice! That was my first kayak. 450 lbs capacity and plenty of below deck storage! I could store a arm load of 8ft rods down that massive front hatch. It surfed pretty well too.

I tried a cobra navigator today, and kind of like the stability i am torn between the choice of pro explorer or navigator. I still want to try a number of other kayaks though, i want to make sure that i get the perfect one.

Good for you! That's the way to do it. What works for one guy might not work as well for you. It's Fords vs Chevys.

Check out Hobie also the peddle drive is the way to go! Hands free for fishing. Expensive but worth it.

i finally decided to go with a hobie outback suv kayak . I went to taylor tackle today and ordered one. It should be here on tuesday, ill try to post pics. Also, could someone tell me which fishifinder to go with? zI was thinking about a humminbird or lowrance. One more thing, which bait tank should i go with? should i make my own or buy one?thanks for all the replies on which yak to get. Tight lines everybody

Congrats on the kayak. I currently use one of the Eagle FishEasy 2 fishfinders, and really like it. It's not a top of the line model, but it has lasted for a few seasons and still works well. I'm just using it to see what the bottom ie structure there may be and bait schools, so I don't need one of the real fancy color ones.

For bait tanks, if I were going to buy one it would be one of the bait tanks made by liquid fishing. On the other hand, if I was going to make one out of a cooler or 5 gallon bucket which is easy to do, then I would go that route and add additional rod holders etc as needed and have a home-brewed job.
I guess the question is do you want to build one yourself, or just spend the cash and buy one ready to go? If you want to make one, there's plenty of examples in our rigging section here on the website. TC&TL,
