Right on. Nice job taking your kid fishing. Newport harbor is my kryptonite, but I can still give you some general tips on fishing at night.

- Fish near lights - Bait fish will congregate in the light, which in turn will attract some bigger predators

- Use dark colors if fishing w/ artificial bait - Blacks and reds work good

- Use a "noisy" lure that fish will feel in their lateral lines - Spinnerbaits, Crankbaits, Chatterbaits etc..

I'll add that I rely more on scents like Uni butter at night. Gulp! works good as well as squid strip trailers. I'll probably be making my first summer evening venture in HH tonight.
