Default Re: abu record reel with pole

Would you be willing to try some instruction via the net.????

1. look at the reel and on the right hand side below the star drag is a small round spool tensioner. turn this knob till its barley tight.

2. depress the casting button and let the lure start to fall.

3. tighten the knob till the lure falls slowly (6" to 1' per sec.)

At this point you should have some control over the reel and lures.
When starting to cast these types of reels don't aim for the moon......
try to just get it 10-20 feet for now.

The way I learned is place a 5 gallon bucket in the yard 30ft away and try to hit it. After you hit it a lot try to put the lure in the bucket.

I know this sound silly but it will help you to control the spin rate and the action of you rod.

Another VERY helpful idea is when casting just swing you rod gently like a slow toss and be sure to follow through. At the same time turn the rod on its side like a top and let the reel spin on its axis. Gravity will pull the line down to the edge of the spool instead of the center where it gets loose and birdnest......

I still birdnest on occasion after 25yrs of using them so pratice and enjoy CUZ... when you got the nice fishy on the line and your in total control your gonna love your casting set up....

good luck and tight lines,

Jon
